Ph.D thesis
Preliminari a una semiotica dell’udibile
My
Ph.D thesis in Semiotics (University of Bologna, 2004, in Italian) tries to define the audible domain from a semiotic point of view and aims at merging contributions from different auditory-related studies into the theoretical framework of semiotics.
Books
Audio e multimedia
(Vincenzo Lombardo and Andrea Valle, 2002-2008, Milano, Apogeo, It.). A university-level handbook on digital audio and music, seen from the multimedia perspective.
Third edition has been completely revised and considerably expanded.
La notazione musicale contemporanea
(
Aspetti semiotici ed estetici, 2002, Torino, De Sono-EDT, It.). A semiotic recognition of some peculiar notational aspects of 20th Century music.
Semiotiche al cinema
(
Esercizi di simulazione, Gian Paolo Caprettini and Andrea Valle, eds., 2006, Milano, Mondadori, It.). An introduction and a reconsideration of the thought of the most relevant semioticians. Each author is discussed starting from a film, as if his theoretical work was prompted by that textual object.
Trappola sonora
(
Sull’udibile in The Conversation di Francis Ford Coppola, Quaderni di Semiotiche, 1, Trento, UNI Service 2006, It.). Coppola’s The Conversation allows to investigate the contribute of auditory perception in the definition of textual strategies, which are remarkably oriented by the audible domain.
